The In-Club Competition Categories.
These changes more accurately portray the categories supported in many
publications and other photography related organizations.
Regina Photo Club holds 3
in-club competitions throughout the program year.
Ribbons and merit points are
awarded for 1st, 2nd, 3rd and Honourable
Mentions.
The Categories this year are:
- Architecture - designed
for depicting items made by the hand of man.
- Creative - alteration of
reality to the surreal or abstract done either digitally or in
the darkroom.
- Nature - observations of
the natural world around us.
- Photojournalism - an image
or sequences of images with informative content and emotional
impact.
- Pictorial - open
category which exploits the aesthetic qualities of the subject
with emphasis on composition.
- Portraiture - figure
studies where the photographer is in complete control of the
lighting, background, and setting.
- Theme - a category of
images which fit the description of an assigned theme.
- Multimedia - slides or
digital presentations combined with an audio element.
- Traditional Film - a
specialized open category for members that continue to shoot
classic film images and desiring to not compete with digitally
created photographs.
